Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched strikes across the region in response for a significant and ongoing assault against it by the US and Israel.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone in the area of the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any damage is not yet known and the American officials has yet to issue a statement.

Airspace Engagements

Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to US military bases - stated they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their airspace.

In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had intercepted a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.

IRGC Statement

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was attacking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on the Islamic Republic initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.

That preceding assault - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on sites associated with the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump urging the Iranian people to revolt against the government.

Wider Impacts

In Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses responded to the missiles with great effectiveness and destroyed a number of missiles," it added.

It said debris landed in a populated district in the capital, causing some structural damage and the death of one civilian.

The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
