It's a challenge for the Australian squad to set fresh records.

The highest peaks have long been mastered.

We're talking about the squad that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, along with six more T20 titles, and previously enjoyed 1,294 days undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, targeted by the record chasers, are the only things left for a squad that has won it all.

The fact it required as late as Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase exceeding 300, regaining their record for the highest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, in truth, a testament to the pitchers that have sported the yellow jersey over the past 50 years.

It is hard for their batsmen to hold a record if never given the chance.

Ultimately, the result of Australia conceding 330 was skipper Alyssa Healy getting a platform to create her most recent brilliance.

Originally famous as the teenage relative of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her nation failed to win either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups from the prior year and has experienced everything through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 championship victory happened three months after her debut and seven global championships have followed from 10 tries across formats.

The tough gloveman was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India momentarily interrupted the winning streak.

That loss "drove us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy commented earlier.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the title decider and was declared player of the series. She guaranteed her country would not come up short.

Whether this recent magnificent innings exceeded that prior achievement can be debated.

Many contend the case for championship match pressure. Some might respond with the difficulty that comes when confronting a historic chase and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's clear is this century was considerably tougher to anticipate.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 happened while she was the highest scorer, but this performance was preceded by six games in India over the past few weeks in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've observed me in the nets, it has been a challenging time because it appeared I lacked timing whatsoever," commented Healy.

"But once you step out on the field, your fighting spirit kick in and you just lock into the contest."

Healy's fighting spirit has continuously been her great strength - and an irreplaceable characteristic in succeeding famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, fallen to the emerging pace bowler in every game, but this time it merely gave Healy's spark.

A single came off Gaud's first delivery and from that point the right-hander was on her way.

"An opportunity to play and face the challenge with her and simply enjoy myself in that regard, somewhat inspired me," commented Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 balls - her fastest at a World Cup - and her century in 84 as she punished short deliveries, scoring 21 fours and three maximums.

By the time she was dismissed her side required another 66 at one run per ball - an achievable target now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Pursuing 330 is unfamiliar ground so I'm happy we have the assurance to accomplish that now," continued Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it again but, if we do, we believe we can achieve it."

Those words will be the ultimate thing rival teams at this championship want to hear.

Over the past five days a belief they will win from any position has become more firm - this victory following victory over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite sitting at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a match against old rivals England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final berth may well be secure.

During that phase they were eliminated from the prior year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a game Healy missed because of torn tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the inaugural occasion at a significant event.

Such is her determination, she subsequently stated she regretted not playing through the pain.

However although she afterwards confessed those injuries have postponed thoughts of retirement, this championship is anticipated as her final tournament as skipper in one-day cricket and she is yet to win an international tournament as skipper.

Victory in India would take her to the summit of her ultimate challenge.
