Actor Rejects Anti-Vax Stance Following Lending His Voice To Controversial Coronavirus Film
The "Taken" star has provided his narration to a new documentary that casts doubt on the legitimacy of vaccinations and lauds one-time health official RFK Jr.
The Documentary's Provocative Foundation
Called "Plague of Corruption," the documentary is based on a bestselling book co-authored by Judy Mikovits, who became famous during the global outbreak for assertions that the illness was linked to a faulty batch of the seasonal immunization.
The publication's collaborator, Kent Heckenlively, has penned books with controversial figure Alex Jones. The producer wrote online celebrating Neeson's participation in the film.
A Firm Statement
A spokesperson for Neeson have released a comment pushing back against claims that he holds anti-vaccine sentiments.
"We all acknowledge that misconduct might be present within the medical sector, but that must not be confused with rejection of vaccines," the response explains. "Liam is not, and remains not, anti-vax. His extensive work with the UN children's agency highlights his long-held support for public-health initiatives."
The response added that the star was not involved in crafting the project's narrative and that questions about its claims are best addressed to the producers.
Central Claims In the Feature
In the film, the voiceover provided by Neeson makes several controversial statements:
- It claims that pro-vaccine voices have insisted on "blind obedience" to government bodies.
- It posits that "science has become highly politicised."
- Robert F Kennedy Jr is interviewed stating, "The major issue with vaccines is that they are not properly vetted."
- The narration takes aim at Covid lockdowns, arguing they caused mental anguish that resulted in thousands of lives.
- Concerning the immunizations, it cites a report that they were "developed too quickly" and seen as "risky trials."
Previous Context and Current Disputes
The film further cites a past television report about clinical trials on children, which was later the focus of a BBC apology by the corporation for violations of guidelines.
Recently, Kennedy called on the Centers for Disease Control to alter its official position that there is no connection between immunizations and autism. This claim is also referenced in the film, contrary to a recent study from the global health body confirming no such link has been found.
A Past Position of Support
Differing from the film's narrative, Neeson has previously voiced strong support for vaccines in his capacity as a UNICEF goodwill ambassador.
In 2022, he referred to vaccines as "an extraordinary achievement," stating that "The discourse about vaccines in lately has lost sight of how much benefit they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest human endeavors in human history."
The film concludes with Neeson's voice proclaiming, "This is not the conclusion of our narrative. This is the beginning of a fresh chapter."
